Those metal bits...

So, I've discovered a use for some of those metal bits and pieces...Stitch Markers! I'm working on my second set of themed stitch markers as I type. My first set was born out of my recent fascination with steampunk. That set is made of : 3 filigree shells, a butterfly, a toy soldier, and a watch part. The second set is all animals: a donkey, a flamingo, a frog, a pig, a bat, and an alligator. I know they don't have specific themes (clockwork, or all farm animals), but they make sense to me. And besides, what's the fun in being normal?

Slipping Behind...

So, my nice, neat desk is disappearing under my organizing of a bunch of...bits. Constance, a friend of a family friend gave (through the family friend) some really cool brass, copper, and other metal crafting bits (charms, small medallions, etc) to me a couple years ago. I am finally sorting them and organizing them, by shape or theme, into film canisters (currently, I have 25, and the number is growing) that are being sorted into one of my itso trays. I didn't realize getting organized would be so tedious...

In other news: I'm going home to RI to visit the fam soon. YAY!!!

More desky goodness!

So here's the pictures of my newly cleaned desk. note the taco seasoning. It tastes really good on mac & cheese. Oh, and that lamp on my desk? Until I cleaned the desk off, you could only see the lighted portion of the lamp.

On another note, having cleaned everything, I can now finish Danielle's necklace and earrings. Or rather, at least most of them...I need to make a run to Ornamentea for closures and ear wires. But, her Owl Earrings are done. Nice and simple. Photos to follow.

Desk, Meet World. World, Meet Desk.

So, I was shopping a target the other day and discovered itso...organizing cubes!!! Thanks to some planning and a couple hours of a game of "toss or keep" I now can see the surface of my desk. Yay! FYI: this is an achievement worth blogging about...my desk had been lost under a foot of crap until today.

Independence day!

So, Independence day came and went with little effect on the world, but a HUGE effect on me. I have made resolutions to stage a revolution of myself. I started with my personal hygiene. I know, odd as it may be, I have my reasons (I am 1/8 French, and have the pit hair to prove it). Gave myself a mani/pedi, uber-cleansed my face (yay less pimply!) and have done at least part of this every day for three days. I'm going to keep it going. It's boosted my self-confidence.

Also on my list of things to change:
  • Clothes-washing habits (I can't make the bf wash 'em all...)
  • Desk clutter
  • Organization in the following: Crafts, Ideas (Business/Work), Clothes & Apparel...and anything I may come up with
  • Puppy training (ok, more like training me to train the pup)
  • Etsy. I need to get that damn etsy store open!
